What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy. It is a natural state of mind that we often experience throughout the day. For example, when we are daydreaming, watching television or reading a book. It is a pleasant, safe practice and feels like deep relaxation.
What’s the Initial Consultation?
The Initial Consultation lasts up to 90 minutes. During this time, we talk about your requirements and goals. Which includes gathering personal information. An explanation will then be given how the hypnotherapy process will work in the forthcoming sessions. Practical details such as the Client Agreement are signed.
What will happen in a Hypnotherapy Session?
Following the Initial Consultation. The Hypnotherapy Session is planned a week later. At the beginning of each Session there is a welcome chat to encourage comfort and relaxation. You are then prepared for the Hypnotherapy Session. There will be an Induction which is verbal relaxation to relax your mind and body. Once you are in deep relaxation, the work begins. This provides you with the opportunity to change, using techniques and approaches discussed and agreed to help you achieve your goals. Once the “change work” is complete, you are then brought through a transition of wakefulness. At the end of the Session, there is the opportunity of expressing how you are feeling and a look at the progress you have made so far.
Can I easily come out of Hypnosis?
Yes. If at any time you wish to come out of Hypnosis, simply open your eyes.
How many Sessions will I need?
This is dependable on what the issue is and underlying circumstances. It will be something that we decide together. If you are seeking help with a one-off Session such as smoking cessation. An Initial Consultation will take place, then a one-off Hypnotherapy Session a week later. Other issues however, may suit a longer term approach with regular weekly Sessions. My approach is to see how you feel about the number of Sessions you need from the beginning. This can be flexible when it comes to decreasing or extending the number of Sessions needed to correlate with your progress and needs. I can provide you with the tools to make changes to your life and the effectiveness of the Sessions are strengthened when you are committed in helping yourself too.
Can you be forced to be Hypnotised?
You can only be hypnotised if you want it, under your own control and cannot be forced to do anything that you do not feel comfortable with.
What does Hypnotherapy feel like?
Hypnotherapy is a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation. This in turn then allows me to access the subconscious mind allowing positive mental, emotional or psychological changes to take place. You remain in control at all times. People can experience feelings of calmness; reassurance; visualisation of beautiful lights. Sometimes people can feel distanced from their bodies in a strengthening way. I establish a trusted rapport with my clients enabling them to experience pleasant hypnosis.
How do you put me into Hypnosis?
Verbal relaxation takes place enabling the mind and the body to be fully relaxed. The tailor made hypnotic screed is then introduced. The screed is specifically made for you following the Initial Consultation. After this is delivered, you are then gently brought back to full consciousness.
Will I feel differently following the Hypnotherapy Session?
The feedback from my clients is very positive. People often say they have thoroughly enjoyed the Session and feel relaxed and refreshed.
Why should I choose Hypnotherapy to help me?
The benefits of receiving Hypnotherapy are amazing. It is a natural, safe practice and can help you in many ways. You may be needing help with addressing a number of issues. For example: Anxiety, Stress, Fears, Phobias, Habits, Addictions, Smoking Cessation, Weight Management, Healing, Ways of looking at life from a new perspective, Loss and Bereavement, Nerves, Motivation and Performance, Low Self Esteem, Self Confidence and much more….
Will the Hypnotherapy Sessions be linked with my medical records?
Seeking help from a Qualified Hypnotherapist in private practice, is an alternative way of getting help. Sometimes people do not want an issue logged on their medical records. There are however some medical issues where GP approval should be sought. This would only be sought with your approval. In my experience, the GPs I have sought permission from are very supportive of Hypnotherapy and have clearly seen an improvement with their patients.
Who do you discuss my issues with?
Confidentiality is adhered to. I have a Supervisor and we are in regular contact. As we are Accredited with the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Counselling Society we are bound by the Code of Ethics regarding confidentiality.
Is Hypnotherapy safe for Children?
Hypnotherapy for children and young people is considered highly effective and is completely safe. Children tend to respond very well to hypnosis as they are naturally quite imaginative and use their subconscious minds a great deal more than adults do. Hypnotherapy can typically help children with issues such as: Exam nerves, sleep problems, bed wetting, fears, eating disorders and low self-esteem.
