Article: The Positive Effects of Hypnotherapy!
Self Confidence and the Recovery from Cancer by Heather Fletcher, Qualified Hypnotherapist
(Cert. Hyp. CS)
The purpose of this article is to share the experience of a lady who initially came to see me to explore the
possibilities of helping her to develop self confidence and also healing from the cancer episode she faced.
Hayley first came for an initial consultation in February 2017. The following was her feedback. “From
the offset Heather made me feel at ease and relaxed, making me feel totally comfortable. I am a person
who finds it hard to relax and feel the world is always on my shoulders. Even on my way to Heather I was
feeling dubious as to whether hypnotherapy would actually work for me; as I have had a lady attempt it
before without any joy. All the way through the therapy sessions (of which I had 6). Heather made it feel
like this is something that she is really made for. This has been further emphasised by her own technique
and the dialogue she composed for each session. She spoke softly and clearly throughout, which I found
very relaxing. At the end of each Hypnotherapy session, she slowly asked me to open my eyes and I
couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt. In conclusion this is something that you can tell Heather has great
passion for and delivered each session very professionally.”
The sessions enabled Hayley to talk openly about her issues in a confidential environment at her own
pace. At the beginning of each session, there was the opportunity of expressing how Hayley’s week had
been and how she was feeling. The Hypnotherapy session was then delivered and adapted weekly
according to matters that arose.
Hayley praised each session by expressing how good she felt because of the trusted, well established
rapport and relaxing environment. She could see a positive improvement in herself weekly. Her GP very
much supported the Hypnotherapy treatment and could clearly see a positive difference.
Hayley is now in a position to see her life from a new perspective. She has been enabled to come to terms
with her ordeals and is now able to move on with her life. The Hypnotherapy sessions have given her the
opportunity of airing concerns and she now has the tools to be able to do something about it. The
sessions have made a difference to her life. She is able to see herself in a much more positive, confident
way. She has been able to reflect on her experience with cancer and is now in a much stronger position to
move on with her life.
Hayley highly recommends Heather Fletcher as a very professional and caring practitioner.

Article: The Benefits of Hypnotherapy in relation to anxiety and negative thoughts.
Author: Heather Fletcher
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a natural state of mind and is a completely safe practice. The client is in control at all times and cannot be forced to do anything they do not wish to do. People do not need to fear hypnotherapy and I make sure that your confidence in me, as a competent practitioner is established in order for you to benefit from the full effects.
My approach to the treatment is firstly to introduce verbal relaxation. This is a process where the mind and body are fully relaxed. The work then begins with a tailor made screed for you making appropriate suggestions to your subconscious mind to implement the necessary changes that you need.
The benefits of Hypnotherapy can be enormous and life changing for the better. People really benefit from complete relaxation for a start. Which can give you a relief from the day to day stresses that many of us experience. The relaxation is then complemented by positive suggestions made to the subconscious mind and is very effective. Everything that we experience in our lives is stored in our subconscious mind like a filing cabinet. Sometimes we need help from a Hypnotherapist to sort out issues that we are experiencing such as anxiety and negative thoughts. Anxiety can sometimes be a symptom that has been initiated from an event that we feel uncomfortable with. Hypnotherapy helps you to understand where a situation has stemmed from and can help you clarify a situation. It can sometimes be a way of accepting a situation that you have had to cope with and can be a way of moving on. Hypnotherapy can give you clearance to issues like anxiety, negative thoughts, a way of finding and answer; rather than continuously recycling a problem in your mind. Relaxation and positive suggestions to the subconscious mind are key elements to the success of hypnotherapy practise. Once a person is fully relaxed, the subconscious mind can be accessed where positive suggestions are worked on to make the necessary changes. Visualisation and imagination can also be influential to the successful outcome of reducing or even eliminating anxiety and negative thoughts. Our thoughts are incredibly powerful to us and anxiety is often a key result of the negative thoughts that we feed our subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy can show you a way of alternative thinking. A way of getting to grips with an issue, in order to break the cycle of negative re-occurring thoughts. It can help you to look at life from a new perspective; a way of thinking more positively and differently.
I often give my clients homework to do and it is important to regularly make time for the simple steps but it does make a tremendous difference to your daily life when facing anxiety and negative thoughts.
Hypnotherapy is also a complimentary way of helping people in the long term. And can be considered as an alternative practise rather than relying on medication. (Advice and permission from a medical practitioner needs to be sought in some situations). Most GPs are fully supportive of Hypnotherapy and see it as a very powerful tool to help people struggling with anxiety and negative thoughts.
